Club Paddle on the Cambridge Backs
We started out early and met up for 9 at Byrons Pool, knowing it was a small car park and some of us had to remove our boats and racks from the roofs to enter.
After launching 13 of us in canoes and kayaks headed down river towards Cambridge.
It was easy going with the flow and we made good progress.
After paddling through beautiful countryside with curious cows and sheep watching us go by. After about 3 miles we came up to the collages and universities of the Backs, stopping to take pictures is a must.
We soon came to our first portage which was nice and easy although very busy.
We then headed on towards our lunch spot at Jesus Green.
We soon run into the numerous Punts on the last stretch, which made it interesting. There doesn’t seem to be any kind of rules or order its everyone for themselves. Find a gap and go for it, trying to find places to stop and take pictures, which you just had to do added to the fun.

After refuelling for our return and looking forward to our battles with the Punts.
It was a great day with really good weather, we covered just over 8 miles in total. The returning journey was just as good with loads more photos being taken.
We all felt like we had a good workout after paddling against the flow but it was totally worth it.
