Llangollen weekend, Touring and white water weekend August 10th/11th
A mixed weekend hopefully to get everyone involved, a beginners White Water day on the Saturday and Great touring trip on the Sunday.
Camping at Abbey Farm.
White Water Trip will be on the Saturday 10th
Touring trip will be on the Sunday 11th
White Water Trip
We will spend the day at the TNR Outdoor Centre. Great place for experiencing white water on a river for the first time and no need for a shuttle.
Parking for the day including Toilets Showers around £7 per person
A chance to paddle some great features where you can start on some easy moving water to practice breaking in and out and work your way up to small drops and faster moving water at your own pace. Grade 2-3.
We have 2 Lee Valley Club Sessions before this trip to get yourself ready and familiar with white water.
Touring Trip.
We will travel to the start point which will be the Poachers Pub near Chirk. We will travel upstream taking in the Chirk Aquaduct then the Chirk Tunnel. (Safety Notice: – head torches will be required for the tunnel).
We will carry on then to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. There is only one portage on this trip, a swing bridge about a 600 metres before the Aqueduct. Once we have crossed the Aqueduct we will stop for Lunch, There is a Canal and River trust Visitor centre here.
(Safety notice: – Paddle boarders are required to walk across this aqueduct via the tow path and tow their boards across.)
After we have had lunch, we will make the return journey back to the Poachers Pub where we can gather and have a social drink if interested. Food is available here but may require you to book depending how busy they are.
This Trip is suitable for all craft and abilities. The total trip is about 9 Miles approximately.
For people who Don’t wish to partake in white water Activities, we can arrange another paddle trip on the Saturday, as there are a few options available to us. We will discuss the options and go with the general Consensus.
