Paddle distance approximately 7.5 miles

We will meet at above address at 09.30am aiming to get onto the water for 10.00am

We will be entering the water at Shiplake lock then paddling up stream on the Thames for approximately 1.3 miles (this will be against the current so quite a work out) to enter the St Patrick’s Stream back water, we will follow this river to it’s end then join the River Lodden which flows back into the Thames which bypasses Shiplake lock. So the flow of water is much faster than the Thames, this makes a fun paddle with small eddies to play on.

This is fast moving water so paddlers need to be competent in boat control to be able to break In and out of eddies and be able to perform evasive manoeuvres of objects and obstacles in the water.

We will paddle the last mile of the River Lodden before it enters the Thames at Wargrave. From here we will paddle down the river Thames to

We will get back onto the Thames and paddle down stream for about 2 miles then enter the Hennerton Back Water river right just past Ferry Eyot Island.

The Hennerton back water is 1 mile long and has virtually no flow and is an easy way to get back up the Thames

Approaching the end of the hennerton back water we come to fiddlers bridge which is a very low bridge which only small boats or kayaks can pass under.

We will continue through Willow Marina and rejoin the Thames

This is where we will all get a work out paddling back up stream to Shiplake lock and our finish and exit of the water at our start point.
